How to Use Your Whitening Trays Correctly
- Prior to Treatment:
Brush and floss prior to wearing the trays
- Using Treatment Syringes:
Place small drop of tooth whitening gel half way up on the inner front surface of tray
(in front of each tooth in the tray).
Cap and retain the syringe for next treatment until empty.
- Wearing the Bleaching Trays;
Insert whitening tray in the mouth over the teeth.
Seat the tray firmly against the teeth.
Wipe the excess get, which seeps over the brim of the tray onto your gums,
by holding the tray up with one hand, wipe the excess gel off of the gums with your finger or tissue.
Wear the tray with the gel as directed.
- Wearing time;
We recommend that if you have not whitened before,
use for 30 minutes to 1 hour the first time and increase the wearing time
if there is little or no tooth sensitivity.
Manufacturers recommended wearing times are;
- 10% or 15% can be used for a 2-4 hrs once or twice/day or overnight while sleeping if no sensitivity.
- 20% or Day White bleaching gel; Use for 30 mins to 1 hr once or twice per day (do not exceed 1 hr/application).
- Post Whitening;
Remove the tray and rinse off your teeth.
Brush any remaining gel away.
Brush, floss and continue routine dental cleaning.
Apply desensitizing gel if your teeth become too sensitive-follow steps 1 through 4 again.
- Caring for Your Trays and Gel;
Clean whitening trays with Q-tip and cold water.
Store trays in the tray holder and gel in cool dry place away from direct sunlight.
The gel may be refrigerated, but do not freeze.
- If you encounter sensitivity (very common);
Use lower concentration bleaching gel, decrease time and/or frequency of application.
Please consult with your dentist.
We will check with you in about a week to see the progress of whitening and monitor tooth sensitivity.
Important Information about Bleaching your teeth
- The bleaching process only works on natural teeth.
- It is recommended that you only bleach the front 10 teeth as no one sees the back teeth.
- If you have dental work such as caps(crowns), veneers or bonding on your front 10 teeth,
it will not whiten.
You will have to have the dentistry redone in order to match your new white teeth.
- Do not smoke, drink or eat while bleaching your teeth.
It is not recommended to bleach your teeth if you are pregnant or nursing.
